Time to start dancin' in the streets
Two Cents, by Tim Timmons

I'm not saying that Noblesville was a boring place to grow up back in the day. But it was a big deal when the Diana switched movies on Thursday . . . that when the time / temperature sign on the American National Bank building broke it was a front-page story . . . and people lined up all the way over to Cherry Street when Clancy's put Toppers on sale.

Just saying.

Noblesville's grown a bit since those days and what was once defined as a crowd wouldn't even be a busy stretch for one vendor at the upcoming Street Dance, the 22nd annual Street Dance, to be exact. Noblesville Main Street, one of our fair city's finest organizations, does an outstanding job with what has turned into the biggest downtown promotion each year.

There will be a classic car show for those of us who can remember when these vehicles weren't so classic, just cool. (OK, the car show's for everyone, not just us old folks.) Of course there'll be vendors and food and entertainment and stuff for the kids and more.

Everything gets going at 5 in the afternoon Saturday in beautiful, downtown Noblesville. A huge crowd is once again expected, especially with what looks to be a good weather forecast. Remember last July when we had triple digit temps? Nothing like that for this year. Sure, it might rain. But that's become a daily thing, hasn't it? It's almost like Noblesville has turned into Orlando North.

The Street Dance is kind of a microcosm of Noblesville, combining old and fresh, tradition with new practices and young and not so young. It will draw folks from all corners of Hamilton County and will once again prove why there's nowhere else quite as good as our little corner of heaven. Not only that, but it's just another thing that makes Noblesville a much improved place to live, work and play.

Did I mention that it used to be so boring when we were growing up here that our dreams had Muzak? Just saying . . .
